Job Description

We are currently hiring for an International TacCIS Business Line Manager. The ideal candidate is a dedicated, entrepreneurial and strategic thinker who creates an environment that empowers teams to translate vision into business growth.You will have the opportunity to oversee and make critical decisions for this business line. 


You will have proven leadership abilities in order to create successful performing teams in a multi-discipline environment and drive strategy and business development. You will work collaboratively with program management, human resources, engineering, finance and legal/commercial services. We are executing programs in some international markets today, a key part of this role will be not only to continue to execute existing business but to build up the team, capabilities and market opportunities. Other responsibilities will include:


  • Create and drive the overall vision and execution strategy for the business line and ensure internal stakeholder collaboration and alignment with other business units
  • Responsible for financial performance and forward long range strategic planning commitments, contract negotiations, measuring and evaluating cost/schedule/profit performance.
  •  Build out, grow and strengthen the business area team whilst ensuring internal capabilities, services and products are available to meet the defined opportunity and market needs.
  • Develop forward market strategies supported by both financial forecast plans and market opportunities ,ensuring required internal investments are available and aligned to achieve in a well balanced approach.
  • Develop and represent business cases, formal reviews and strategic plans for the Int TacCIS pursuits and broader initiatives.
  • Leadership role representing the assigned customer set for all relevant opportunities, issues, concerns and requirements while ensuring a high level of customer intimacy and satisfaction with respect to all customer facing activities.
  • Influencing, fact-finding and negotiations with the customer(s) and subcontractors.
  • Set and assess key metrics to monitor program performance and direct, course correct, or escalate if/as required.
  • Perform risk/growth management, including generation of mitigation plans.
  • Support and influence product development roadmaps, creation of the product business strategy for international, and implementation of that strategy overseeing a variety of R & D and customer-funded projects/products.
  • Act as a driving force for Int TacCIS into marketing, communication and proposal support ensuring they are favorably aligned, received and reviewed as required.
  • Coordinate with program owners to ensure that investments, product availability and readiness for programs are aligned with the TacCIS roadmap maintained by the TacCIS Product Line Manager.
    • With Int TacCIS business development and program staff;
      o Develop a supportable business funnel through analyzing customer/market needs with the aligned resources to address
      o Coordinate product positioning and messaging that differentiates GDMS-I TacCIS across our defined target markets.
      o Grow the international offering, market/customer intimacy and connectivity
      o Seek market differentiators and methods to achieve to determine how best to serve the focus markets
      o Identify, prioritize and lead sales growth with the in appropriate geographic areas
      o Identify potential clients, track, build relationships and close sales opportunities.
      o Support the generation of a powerful network with representatives/project staff in various governments, OEM customer departments and industry organizations (who can be collaboration partners/subcontractors and/or competitive threats) which are able to support our interests.

Basic Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years combined experience (strategy & business development, program management, engineering, proposal management), ideally in a defence related industry sector;
  • Not only a burning drive to succeed but the will to ‘find a way’ 
  • A collaborative, team building leader who unites multi-disciplinary parties (including management leadership) and aligns them around common goals and objectives as they relate to winning and business growth
  • Experiences in strategy generation and team alignment
  • Knowledge of procurement approaches used in international programs and by relevant OEM supplier base. Additional understanding of ground combat C4I systems is ideal.
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be able to work flexible hours and be willing to travel
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, or applicable scientific discipline is desired.
  • Master's degree in Business and/or Engineering an asset
