Job Description

As a System Engineer, you will be working with our Mobile Domain team on the Land Command Support System (LCSS) The LCSS is often referred to as a “System of Systems”, indicative of its breadth, complexity and the diversity of solutions incorporated. This system provides critical communication capabilities for the Canadian Army’s tactical network. GDMS-C plays a key role in the architecture and design 

associated with the network and application middleware layers of the LCSS. 


If you were in the role today, here are some things you would be working on:

  • Oversee and participate in the overall Mobile Domain design to ensure the products are implemented in accordance with the agreed initiative.
  • Development and documentation of requirements, use cases and Interface Control Documents.
  • Manage System Problem Reports by providing proper upfront analysis and input to support bug fixes as well as seeing the proper close out of each SPR.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior systems engineers as well as supporting product development teams and system integration teams in various levels of the organization.
  • Coordinate the overall artifact production effort including: maintenance of the artifact family tree; Requirements Management IPT and tool smiths; data and configuration management; organize technical reviews; etc.
  • Liaise with the Director Land Command Systems Program Management (DLCSPM) personnel, in particular with designated technical OPIs, to ensure a coordinated approach to the production, review and delivery of engineering artifacts
  • Support internal and DLCSPM/IPT (Integrated Project Team) meetings on an as-needed basis

Basic Qualifications

Essential Skills:

  • Seven years experience with eligibility for Professional Engineering status preferred
  • Strong communications abilities
  • Experience in application design preferred
  • Strong design and/or software development experience in C#, C++, C or Python preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related technical/scientific degree
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident


  • Knowledge in DOORS Next Gen and experience in analyzing Operational Requirements and performing Gap Analysis an asset
  • Familiarity with Canadian Land Forces Doctrine and Operational Scenarios, an asset
  • Experience in the development of Land Tactical Systems is an asset.
