Our Centre of Excellence is centered towards aerospace with a specialization in Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) technologies. The team is currently working on an exciting opportunity on the LX300, one of the best unmanned helicopters in the world. Job Description

The Software Developer - Avionics  is responsible for:

  • Provide support for one or many of the avionic systems.
  • Strong software background.
  • Implementing best practices for developing user-friendly software.
  • Working in all phases of software development lifecycle including requirement, design, research, development, code reviews, deployment, and testing.
  • Providing a great user experience for our end users.
  • Working at the intersection of design and programming.
  • Developing features to enhance the user experience.
  • Building reusable code for future use.
  • Be a key member of a cross-functional agile scrum team.
  • Becoming a technical expert of a specific system but not limited to those listed: Mission Computer (MC), Sensors integration (EO/IR, Radar, EW, AIS, Lidar, etc.), protocols, autopilot, navigation, GPS, Ground Control System (GCS).

This role will be a combination of working remotely and onsite at our Sherbrooke office. We have a number of measures in place for onsite working – our top priority remains the health and safety of our colleagues.

Basic Qualifications

Our Ideal candidate has:

  • Degree in software engineering, computer science or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in full-stack development on both Windows and Linux.
  • Experience in automated testing frameworks such as the Robot Framework, xUnit, Selenium, Squish, etc.
  • Experience in a version control system such as git, gitlab, Jira, Confluence, etc.
  • Experience with distributed software systems and service oriented architecture.
  • Experience with Software design patterns, Software Engineering principles and applying those techniques, tools and knowledge to the task at hand
  • Strong understanding of good UI/UX design fundamentals
  • Knowledge of some of the following software; MatLab, Python, NumPy/SciPy, Sphinx, TensorFlow, Jenkins, etc. is an asset
  • Self-motivated and hungry to stay up to date with the latest technology trends, and able to make sound technical decisions.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in French and English (Both written and verbal)
  • Interest in working with the biggest Canadian drone (LX300) in a constant evolving field with the latest technologies
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
