Cyber Security Engineer (SA&A)

General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada is seeking for an enthusiastic and determined Cyber Security Engineer to join our Ottawa Cyber team. Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will provide subject matter expertise in Cyber security and Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A), and will work closely with our customer and internal teams in the execution of our program.

This position is a Hybrid role. 

Working within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), here are some details about the day to day:

• Work on a variety of subsystems, investigating, testing, architecture, design, implementation and report writing.
• Create SA&A reports showing how the subject system meets the specific identified security controls.
• Analyze and synthesize information, assess Cyber Security risk areas and seek opportunities to make recommendations on potential solution
• Work with the customer other team members to understand and document specific requirements and the constraints of the system
• Work in a laboratory environment, monitor system design, providing design advice and troubleshoot various systems
• On-site work will be required for the handling of classified information
• Contribute to the delivery of Cyber Artifacts for integration into larger system
• Participate in Agile planning events

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical/science/mathematics degree with proof of continuous development of Cyber Security related professional knowledge and/or skills.
• 10 years of related experience
• Knowledge and experience with current government and industry standards such as CSE ITS Guidance, DISA STIGs, ITSG-33, ITSG-22, NIST SP-800 suite, ISO/IEC and other related standards.
• Experience in generating Security Assessment and Authorization artifacts.
• Hands-On experience with one or more of the following products: Microsoft Enterprise network suite of software, McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), Splunk (using the tools and basic SPL writing), using and configuring Splunk Enterprise Security, VMware, vSphere Hypervisor (creating VMs, assigning VM resources, using VM templates), ESXi & vCenter, Cisco CCNA, Palo Alto firewall
• High degree of initiative and work habits that accomplish functional and business goals with autonomy.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations.

Ideally, you will have experience in

• Industry certification such as CISSP, CEH, OSCP, GSEC, Security+, Network+, etc., or other related networking or security certifications would be viewed as an asset
• Experience in one or more of these areas: Network Security principles and practice, Vulnerability Analysis, Threat Risk Assessment, Security Operations Centers, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) concepts as well as Operating System Hardening.
• Knowledge or experience of Security Operations Center (SOC) technologies such as Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Intrusion Detection System (IDS), Intrusion prevention System (IPS), and machine learning technologies is an asset.
• Working within an Agile development environment.
