Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and determined Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join our Ottawa team. Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will provide subject matter expertise in Cyber Security and Penetration Testing, will work closely with our customer and internal teams in the execution of our program.  We are looking for industry professionals who enjoy Capture-The-Flag, are interested in broad exposure but also might have a keen interest in Digital Forensics, Malware reverse engineering or Encryption. This position is a Hybrid role. 


Working within an Agile Framework (SAFe), here are some details about the day to day:

  • Work on a variety of subsystems, investigating, testing, architecture, design, implementation and report writing.
  • Execute Penetration Tests on subsystems of a larger network.
  • Analyze the results of Pen Tests and create summary and remediation recommendation reports.
  • Work with the customer other team members to advance the security of the network given the constraints of the system
  • Work in a laboratory environment, monitor system design, providing design advice and troubleshoot various systems
  • On-site work will be required for the handling of classified information
  • Participate in Agile planning events

Basic Qualifications

Experience & Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical/science/mathematics degree with proof of continuous development of Cyber Security related professional knowledge and/or skills.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP and network architecture
  • Experience conducting network penetration testing
  • Experience exploiting and fuzzing web applications
  • Experience with one or more tools such as Kali Linux, nmap, Wireshark, Metasploit, etc.
  • Experience with test automation
  • Experience scripting using: Perl, Python, or Ruby as well as OS shell scripting
  • Experience using both Windows and Linux Operating Systems
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations.

Ideally, you might have:

  • Certifications such as CEH, ISCP, CISSP, GIAC (GPEN), CompTIA networking & security
  • Experience working within an Agile development environment.
