General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada is seeking for a Software Asset Management (SAM) analyst in the IT department, responsible for the entire SAM lifecycle – software requisition and acquisition, operations and license management and retirement. This includes compliance, renewals, software redundancy, planning, forecasting and costing. In addition, you are the go-to personnel and implement a “one stop shop”, managing day-to-day requests from end users and to fulfill software license management and financial reporting. In order to be successful, you communicate with key stakeholders while understanding user requirements and be able to advise best potential software license methodology and/or solutions for deployment.
As the SAM analyst, you are responsible for tracking and monitoring licenses and its protection renewals process well in advance of their expiration. Facilitating within IT and business’ needs, you will work collaboratively with Supply Chain and with key stakeholders, assist in managing contracts and build relations to maximize savings and optimize spending for software licensing, maintenance and service offerings. As this requires documentation of the collected information, you will analyze and develop a methodology to keep track of software assets, relating to hardware, SMEs, tiers and perform due diligence on budgeting, software compliance, track of inventory and cost measures. The SAM analyst must develop the strategy to manage automation and integration of various tools such as Flexera, Remedy, Apps Store and related workflows to optimize purchases, deployment, maintenance, utilization and harvesting of software licenses within the organization. You will be responsible for maintaining a software roadmap for IT support applications and communicate, identify and improve operational processes. You will execute base procedures for unused or underutilized software assets (reclamation). This role is the driving force to implement SAM initiatives and processes with technology owners and be the license expert on many of the major software tools.
