  • General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada is seeking for an experienced Mission Specialist who will play a key role in the architectural and design decisions impacting the Land Command Support System (LCSS) network. This enables command, control and communication capabilities for the Canadian Army. You will be working closely with DND, the Army and industry partner stakeholders to identify gaps and areas of potential improvement within the existing LCSS capabilities to support the end user.

     

    You will work to define and document LCSS capabilities in the form of Capability Descriptions, Scope Statements, Concept of Operations and Operational Use Cases. These are based on the vision of the Canadian customer and the needs of the end user. You will work with primary stakeholders to elicit requirements on LCSS capabilities and take ownership to present the quality of work products to the stakeholder community which includes DND, Canadian Army, and other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). At the System of Systems (SoS) of Integration and Test level, you will provide guidance and support to the development teams when it comes to implementation and revisions which includes to review test cases, provide resolutions of test discrepancies and analyze test results. From these insights, you assume responsibility to execute engineering plans, process and schedules as needed.

     

    Essential Skills

    • Education for applicants with a Canadian Military Service
    • Minimum 10 years of service in either the Canadian Army or Canadian Army Reserves with proven operational experience and expertise gained while serving.
    • In depth knowledge of general Army operations.
    • Knowledge and ability to identify and effectively communicate operational requirement, operational context and operational use of a capability.
    • Knowledge and ability to provide operational support and expertise in a lab and field environment to the stakeholder community.
    • Demonstrated initiative and strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
    • Demonstrated capability of meeting commitments and ability to deliver high quality work products.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment with minimum supervision.

    Ideally you will have experience in

    • Specialization in Military Communications in an operational environment is a desirable asset.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
