  • General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada is looking for an experienced System Engineering Lead for a mid-sized Fire Control development project that would include system design, software and hardware design, system integration and system validation.

    The activities involved span across several functional groups within Ottawa and across international business area. The objective is to combine the functionality of three Fire Control Computers into a single unit, operating seamlessly in all three vehicle configurations for a major US vehicle platform.


    Essential Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, or applicable science discipline.
    • Minimum 7+ years of experience and proven ability to have a disciplined approach to system engineering with knowledge of full system life cycle.
    • Experienced with DOORS Requirements Management and great understanding to test and validation procedures.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Strong problem solving and analysis.
    • Take ownership of the work and be an enthusiastic contributor with willingness to learn new skills.
    • Must be able to work effectively both independently and within a team environment with minimum supervision.

    As a senior level System Engineer, you will be participating in an interdisciplinary integrated project team that will perform system requirements analysis in DOORS management. Under the supervision and reporting to the project lead, you will be involved from program initiation through unit fielding which involves qualification and a HALT/POS effort. As you take lead to the unit Verification, Qualification and HALT/POS process, you will also provide design information to both hardware and software engineers to implement the system. To be successful, this will require for you to oversee preparations of system design, analysis of functions, system specifications, system design documents and interface design documents. In addition, you must prepare and monitor test plans, procedures and results to report against progress planning activities. In each design iteration and as the system design evolves, you will support the change management process.


    Ideally you will have experience in

    • Experience with Fire Control systems knowledge considered an asset.
    • HALT/POS experience would be considered an asset.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
