  • General Dynamics Mission Systems –Canada is seeking for an experienced UX Designer that would join the Calgary team to advocate shaping a user interface through an iterative user-centered design process. Working with a team of user experience and human factors experts, you will define the problem space and end user needs while advocating and communicating those needs to the engineering and development communities.

    Based on human factors principles, research and usability testing methods for military systems, you will make decisions with the team to ensure soldiers have these tools to be effective.

     

    Essential Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Engineering, Industrial Design or applicable scientific discipline.
    • Proven experience and have expressive passion with Graphical User Interface (GUI) design, UX and/or Human Computer Interaction.
    • Experienced in designing front end user interfaces for software and firmware in an iterative manner from low to high fidelity design.
    • Experience using GUI prototyping tools such as Axure, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop.
    • Ability to translate and coordinate GUI experience to the development team, including the creation of assets to facility development.
    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
    • Willing to learn new skills and take ownership of work while working in both independently and within a team oriented environment with minimum supervision.

    The UX designer will be responsible to participate in an interdisciplinary integrated project team consisted of the UX, Human Factors and design groups. In this work environment, you will work closely with software and firmware. As a cross-discipline role, this requires bridging a GUI design role with firmware focused on military embedded hardware devices and software development process using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). From this, you will ensure this provides a positive end user experience. In order to be successful, you will identify and create software user interface requirements and produce analysis for implementation. This also includes to prepare, review and document design, analysis and test activities in accordance with development standards.

     

    Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
