    Under the supervision of the Integrated Tactical Network (ITN) Team Lead, the successful candidate will hold a working level tester role, assisting the ITN SI team with definition and execution of integration activities as part of the ITN task.  The successful candidate will participate in and support all integration related activities for the task, by applying engineering knowledge and techniques to write, execute and report on all test activities in an increasingly independent manner.


    The duties of the Working level Test Engineer will include, but are not limited to:

    • Review of system and subsystem requirements specifications, interface control documents, design documents and use cases.
    • Development of system integration and verification test procedures, including configuration descriptions and expected outcomes, in accordance with the design documents and GDMS-C processes.
    • Execute formal and informal test procedures, gather appropriate measures and data. Document all results.
    • Conduct analyses and provide interpretation of test measures and results.
    • Perform investigations to clarify system problem components for further analysis.
    • Write defect and test reports to demonstrate progress, communicate as required.
    • Participate in integrated team activities with system engineering and development engineering teams.
    • Train, lead and mentor more junior test staff in engineering techniques, tools and knowledge in support of effective test activities.
    • Conduct himself/herself professionally at all times, in all meetings and activities, and when included in customer attended events.


    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical/scientific degree. Candidates with diplomas will be considered with adequate additional experience.
    • Professional Engineering status preferred (APEGA P.Eng or ASET P.Tech(Eng.) accreditation), or eligible to obtain that accreditation.
    • Positive approach to learning and trying new things.
    • Excellent communication abilities (written and verbal).
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience (Bachelor’s degree) or 7 years’ experience (technical diploma) with the Integration and Verification of complex electronic systems comprising both developmental and
    • COTS/MOTS components.
    • Thorough understanding of the product development life cycle and associated processes
    • Knowledge and experience with engineering and SIV&V process, including Agile/EDF.
    • Experience in defining, developing and executing integration tests for complex functionality, and understanding the interdependencies and interactions between subsystems.
    • Experience in the investigation, recommendations, and resolution of complex defects.
    • Knowledge of and relative experience in the areas of implementing Test Automation within a complex sub-system environment
    • Familiarity with radios, voice/data networks, and Internet Protocol (IP).

    Experience with the any of the following tools is highly desirable:

    • WireShark.
    • IXIA.
    • iSource.
    • Bugzilla.
    • Code Collaborator/DM Workflow.
    • RTC.
    • DOORS.
    • Enterprise Architect
    • Microsoft Visio and other Office Suite products.
    • Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest.



    Minimum 10 year consecutive residence in Canada – for Canadian Secret Security Clearance
    Applicants will be required to obtain/hold a valid and current Canadian security clearance to gain access to the classified spaces, information and equipment in order to perform the work associated with this position.
