  • Project/Program Overview

    We tackle the toughest security and technology challenges by developing and delivering mission-critical products and systems for Canadian and allied forces worldwide. From headquarters to vehicles to the individual soldier, your work helps them accomplish their mission, while keeping them safe.

    As part of the team, you will guide system design and development, creating a high level communications architecture understood by the customer on the application side and implemented by the designers on development side.


    The responsibilities and range of activities will vary, but in general will include:

    • Perform system requirements analysis.
    • Perform system design and/or analysis functions based on requirements.
    • Define SAFe Features that describe the work to be executed.
    • Prepare and review concept of operations, system specifications, system design documents, and interface design documents.
    • Provide design information to hardware and software engineers implementing the system.
    • Prepare and review test plans, procedures and results.
    • Investigate defects and propose solutions.
    • Support the change management process as the system design evolves.
    • Document the analysis, design and test in accordance with development standards.
    • Plan activities/tasks for each design iteration.
    • Report progress against plans.
    • Create Work Breakdown Structures, assigning/overseeing work and reporting metrics on status
    • Support Test/Verification/Validation engineers in the development of test cases and helping with verification and validation activities
    • Lead a team of System Engineers internally and remotely.


    Experience is required in a number of the following areas:

    • 8+ years system engineering experience
    • Experience with Military Systems (C2, C4ISR, Mobile and HQ domain Battle Management and Situational Awareness Applications, etc.)
    • Experience with System Development V-model (concept of operations, use cases, requirements, system design, software development, unit, integration and qualification test)
    • Experience with model based design tools (Rational Rose, Artisan, Enterprise Architect) and UML
    • DOORS Requirements Management
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Strong problem solving and analysis skills.
    • Enthusiastic contributor, willing to learn new skills and take on ownership of work
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, with minimum supervision
    • Experience with Agile product development methods


    • University undergraduate degree in software engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, information systems or computer science

    Minimum 10 year consecutive residence in Canada – for Canadian Secret Security Clearance
    Applicants will be required to obtain/hold a valid and current Canadian security clearance to gain access to the classified spaces, information and equipment in order to perform the work associated with this position.
