  • Project/Program Overview

    As part of the team, you will play a key role in the architectural and design decisions impacting the Land Command Support System (LCSS) network, which enables command, control, and communication capabilities for Canada’s Army. You will work closely with DND, the Army, and industry partner stakeholders to identify gaps and areas of potential improvement within existing LCSS capabilities to support the end user. Using these insights, you will provide support and guidance on both development and testing to GDMS–C engineering teams.


    The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Define and Document LCSS Capabilities in the form of Capability Descriptions and Scope Statements, Concept of Operations and Operational Use Cases based on the Vision of the Canadian Customer and the needs of the end user
    • Identify gaps and areas of potential improvement with existing LCSS Capability required to support the end user
    • Work with the DND and the Canadian Army to elicit requirements on LCSS Capabilities
    • Provide guidance and support to the development teams for the implementation and revision ofcapabilities within LCSS
    • Provide support, guidance and recommendations to the stakeholder community (which includes DND, the Canadian Army and other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs))
    • Provide guidance and support to the SoS level Integration and Test including review of test cases, resolution of test discrepancies and analysis of test results
    • Support and present at meetings with internal stakeholders as well as with the stakeholder community
    • Assume responsibility, ownership, and accountability for deliverables and work products and meeting program commitments and achieving program milestones


    • Minimum 2-3 years System Engineering or Systems Architecture experience
    • Experience in requirements development and system design
    • Experience and working knowledge of systems engineering tools including DOORS (Preferred DOORS Next Generation), Rational Team Concert (RTC) and UML/SysML
    • Experience in planning, estimating and scheduling
    • Demonstrated initiative and strong verbal and written communications skills
    • The ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, with minimum supervision
    • Demonstrated capability of meeting commitments and delivering high quality work product


    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or applicable scientific discipline is required.


    • Applicants must also be capable of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) clearance for project related, Technical Assistance Agreement (TAA) controlled, information
    • Minimum 10 year consecutive residence in Canada – for Canadian Secret Security Clearance
      Applicants will be required to obtain/hold a valid and current Canadian security clearance to gain access to the classified spaces, information and equipment in order to perform the work associated with this position
