    We currently have new opportunities for Software Automation and Integration Engineers to join our Calgary team. General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada is delivering a comprehensive system that brings together a powerful, modular design with uncompromised engineering on ground combat vehicles for the Ministry of Defence in the United Kingdom.     Our Calgary team is developing a key software product as part of this offering which provides the operating system and middleware to enable tactical voice and data communications, sensor and device integration, and common application services. The members of our team hit the ground running, and work in one of our largest agile environments in the Company.

    Responsibilities

    • Participate in Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective
    • Continually refine backlog items into smaller tasks
    • Work cooperatively with the other development teams to successfully execute against your team’s backlog, and work with members of your team to define and take on new tasks
    • Develop testing scenarios, generate test cases and detailed test steps (manual and automated), execute tests in order to complete sprint tasks
    • Ensure completed tasks meet the Definition of Done and the Acceptance Criteria, in conjunction with goodness criteria defined in company processes and procedures
    • Share knowledge and skills with other team members
    • Participate in the refinement of the product backlog
    • Understand and apply the principles of configuration management
    • Conduct himself/herself professionally in all meetings, activities and when included in customer attended events
    • Able to deal with a highly educated multi-disciplinary team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 2 year's experience with testing software in a Linux and windows operating systems, including own test planning, procedure writing and test execution
    • Demonstrated initiative, willingness to learn and continued personal development
    • Demonstrated interest to identify root causes of issues, and strong capabilities to troubleshooting and recommending solutions
    • Disciplined approach to integration and qualification testing with knowledge of agile, or other iterative test methods
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Experience with test automation scripting in languages such as bash, python or PowerShell
    • Exposure to test automation tools, such as Robot
    • Framework or Rational’s Functional Tester

    Skills & Experience – Nice to Have:

    • Previous experience testing in an Agile, or Disciplined Agile environmentExperience testing pub/sub and request/response messaging patterns, including automation improvements to test configurations
    • Experience testing network device management technologies such as SNMP and NETCONF
    • Experience testing multimedia technologies such as SIP, RTP, and RTCP
    • Experience testing transport layer technologies such as TCP/IP and UDP
    • Experience testing networking technologies such as IPv4, IPv6, VLANs, 802.3, Routing Protocols (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP4), 802.1x, DSCP, and DHCP, and their test tools
    • Experience testing directory services technologies (e.g., LDAP, X.500)

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical / scientific degree. Candidates with diplomas will be considered with adequate additional experience APEGA P.Eng or ASET P.Tech(Eng.) accreditation, or eligible to obtain that accreditation.

    Other:

    • Minimum 10 year consecutive residence in Canada – for Canadian Secret Security Clearance
      Applicants will be required to obtain/hold a valid and current Canadian security clearance to gain access to the classified spaces, information and equipment in order to perform the work associated with this position.
    • The successful applicant must also be capable of ITAR clearance for project related, TAA controlled, information.
    • Limited international travel may be required for this role.
