    Project/Program Overview

    General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada currently has an exciting opportunity in our Ottawa location for a Project & Capture Manager for our cyberspace division. This is ideal for someone who is interested in gaining experience in both project management and strategic business capture. This role, within our Cyber and Canadian Programs business unit (profit and loss center), provides an opportunity to lead and contribute to both program execution as well as strategic business growth related to cyber security, cyber operations and mission assurance. General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada is quickly growing our capability around cyber operations (mission assurance in CyberSpace). The successful candidate will have an opportunity to directly influence our cyber operations strategy and to lead and/or contribute to various request for proposals (RFPs) or request for information (RFIs) related to this capability.Additionally, the successful candidate would also take on the role of project manager for select project(s) within the cyber business unit.

    • Leadership role on project(s) for all relevant program issues, concerns and requirements.
    • Plan, monitor and control the work on project(s) with overall accountability for the quality and financial performance of the assigned projects
    • Ensure all services and products are completed on time and on budget to the customer requirements
    • Management of project resources through liaison with engineering and other program/project managers.
    • Ensure that all engineering services and program execution based activities adhere to the company quality system
    • Provide leadership & mentorship to the project team(s)
    • Lead internal reviews, reporting and providing status of activities on a timely basis
    • Act as a point of escalation and resolution for project issues and roadblocks
    • Directly contribute to strategy, business development and business capture related to the Cyber business unit
    • Assure a high level of customer intimacy and satisfaction with respect to all customer facing activities around both program execution and business growth and capture.
    • Ongoing customer relationship management of existing customers as well as cultivating and growing new relationships
    • Involvement in, and providing input on, requests for information (RFI) and request for proposals (RFP) as well as leading and contributing to business cases, competitive analysis and strategic plan development
    • Lead capture manager/proposal manager team activities including pursuit decisions, bid confirmation gates, formal management reviews as well as key proposal development gates/milestones
    • Participate in various elements of our cyber marketing and sales programs including trade shows, press releases, brochures, data sheets, white papers, briefings etc.


    • At least 5-10 years project management, engineering and/or business development experience, preferably in the defence industry sector
    • Previous experience in developing and leading teams around business captures (RFIs/RFPs).
    • Comprehensive knowledge of project management tools and methodologies as applicable to complex systems integration activities.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Desire and capability to interact effectively with the customer base to influence, negotiate, assure a level of intimacy and satisfaction, and grow the assigned portfolio.
    • Capability to provide effective briefings to senior management both internally as well as externally within our customer base.
    • Be willing to travel (10-15%)


    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Software or related technical/engineering degree
    • Preferred PMI certification as PMP

    Minimum 10 year consecutive residence in Canada – for Canadian Secret Security Clearance
    Applicants will be required to obtain/hold a valid and current Canadian security clearance to gain access to the classified spaces, information and equipment in order to perform the work associated with this position.
