    Project/Program Overview

    General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada currently has a new opportunity as a Project Manager in Ottawa for our Vetronics Solution Division. The Project Manager drives , coordinates and executes projects in accordance with company standard practices in order to deliver the in scope products and services to the defined specifications, SOW, schedule and budget. Reporting into the Manager of Vetronic Solutions, the Project Manager will be accountable for a portfolio mix of existing and new projects, as well as some core IRAD projects, ensuring their delivery and execution. This opportunity is ideal for someone looking to be a strategic, customer focused Project Manager within a dynamic and dedicated team.

    • Leadership role representing the assigned Vetronic Solutions customer set for all relevant program issues, concerns and requirements
    • Assure a high level of customer intimacy and satisfaction with respect to all customer facing activities
    • Plan, monitor and control the work on the project(s) and overall accountability for the quality and financial performance of the assigned projects
    • Ensure all services and products are completed on time and on budget to the customer requirements
    • Management of project resources through liaison with engineering and other program/project managers.
    • Ensure that all engineering services and program execution based activities adhere to the GDMS-Canada quality system
    • Provide leadership & mentorship to the project team(s)
    • Lead internal reviews, reporting and providing status of activities on a timely basis
    • Act as a point of escalation and resolution for project issues and roadblocks
    • Involvement in, and providing input on, requests for information (RFI) and request for proposals (RFP)
    • All other duties as required


    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Software or related technical/engineering degree
    • Preferred PMI certification as PMP
    • At least 5-10 years project management/engineering experience in support of development, deployment and testing of complex electronic systems.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of project management tools and methodologies as applicable to complex systems integration activities. Experience with Agile Methodology is an asset.
    • Direct applicable experience on defence programs is desirable.
    • As this role will include several unique programs executing in parallel, a keen ability for effective and efficient measurement, control and multi-tasking is required
    • Excellent team management and strong inter-personal and consensus building skills.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Desire and capability to interact effectively with the customer base to influence, negotiate, assure a level of intimacy and satisfaction, and grow the assigned portfolio.
    • Capability to provide effective briefings to senior management both internally as well as externally within our customer base.
    • Some level of travel may be required with this position (up to 15%)




    Minimum 10 year consecutive residence in Canada – for Canadian Secret Security Clearance

    Applicants will be required to obtain/hold a valid and current Canadian security clearance to gain access to the classified spaces, information and equipment in order to perform the work associated with this position.
