    Project/Program Overview





    Typical Duties

    • Use industry standard desktop publishing print and web tools to set up multi-page documents and web pages using templates, master pages, merge files, style sheets, and text styles for company documentation and marketing material.
    • May produce graphic elements for multi-media. 
    • May create templates according to existing graphic standards and surveys.
    • Maintains brand and identity standards throughout all projects, utilizing existing templates for adherence to strict corporate identity.
    • Prepares block type diagrams, tables and flowcharts following corporate guidelines.
    • Makes changes to existing illustrations or images.
    • Communicates with the graphic team, clients, and production to understand specific task requirements and objectives and to obtain final approval.
    • May coordinate with External illustrator performing more advance materials.
    • Completes tasks accurately and on time, as per design schedule, ensuring quick turnaround with no compromise to quality.
    • Proofs own work for quality and accuracy.
    • Outputs files optimized for print and web media.
    • Researches images for specific projects.
    • Manipulates and edits text and images (i.e. cropping, add in shadows, etc).
    • Creates online forms.
    • Prepares files for online archiving and archives to the Intranet.
    • Provides support to the graphics team, participates in production of print media, program documentation, the internal and external web to create and maintain web pages.
    • Demonstrates a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
    • Exhibits flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing environments and schedule demands.
    • May work with external contractors to provide textual or image components for developing multimedia or video.
    • Analyzes print requirements,choosing to use external Print procurement or producing internal digital printed materials in in-house production facility as required. Familiarity with Bindery tools, techniques and processes
    • May order supplies for any graphics team requirements as needed.



    • Equivalent post secondary education achieving a 1 year college certificate/diploma in relevant field e.g. Desktop Publishing, Graphic Design or Multi-Media, etc.
    • Over 4 years up to and including 6 years of experience.
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite specifically MS Word, Excel and SharePoint Administration.
    • Advanced knowledge of industry standard desktop publishing tools. Intermediate knowledge of industry standard graphic tools.
    • Advanced knowledge of working with print servers, Colour Digital Printing

    Physical Effort

    • Required to sit extensively (90%) in work station to complete work e.g. computer. 
    • Considerable hand/finger movement e.g. mock-ups, keyboarding, mousing. 
    • When using production facility some physical effort such as lifting paper, collating, loading, binding, changing large format printer paper rolls, cutting.

    Sensory Effort

    • High degree of visual attention and concentration for periods of time (75%).
    • Some noise when using production facility

    Working Environment

    • General office environment. Occasional requirement (5%) to work in isolation re security. Significant repetition associated with data entry and proof-reading (70%). 
    • Multiple/tight deadlines and some interruptions. 
    • Exposure to noise and vibration in production facility, occasional unusual hours i.e. proposals.

    Minimum 10 year consecutive residence in Canada – for Canadian Secret Security Clearance
    Applicants will be required to obtain/hold a valid and current Canadian security clearance to gain access to the classified spaces, information and equipment in order to perform the work associated with this position.
