    Project/Program Overview

    General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada is currently looking for Systems Integration V&V Engineers from junior to senior level for award of a new contract to deliver a world class Tactical Communication and Information System (TacCIS) to a new customer. Our Canadian teams will design, integrate, manufacture, verify, deliver, install and support the TacCIS System. The TacCIS Project will integrate proven GDMS products along with customer supplied Radios and Encryption equipment to form a modern tactical vehicle CIS solution.


    The project phases include System Design, Software and Hardware Design, System Integration, and System Validation. Following the Engineering Phase, the project will lead into production and through life support services. The Project will be a multi-site development in Ottawa and Calgary with activities spanning several product development groups across the Land and Joint Solutions business area.


    Typical Duties 

    • Develop Test Plans and Procedures, including configuration descriptions and expected outcomes, in accordance with design documents and processes
    • Review of design documents and use cases
    • Execute formal and informal test procedures, gather appropriate measures and data, analyze and interpret test data and prepare test reports
    • Perform investigations to clarify defects for further analysis and raise defect reports
    • Develop and maintain automated test tools written primarily in Python and Bash script
    • Provide support to the lab team by carrying out setup and configuration
    • Prepare status reports to communicate progress
    • Train and mentor more junior test staff and in-country subcontractor in test engineering techniques, tools, and knowledge in support of effective test activities


    Required Skills & Experience 

    • Multiple roles are available, candidates will be considered for roles based on their experience and interests
    • Experience with integration and verification of complex electronic systems at a system level and/or software lifecycle (design, development, and verification)
    • Familiarity with Python
    • Excellent communication abilities (written and verbal)
    • Ability to brief/describe technical information to a non-technical audience
    • Experience in defining, developing, and executing system tests for complex functionality, and understanding the interdependencies and interactions between subsystems
    • Experience in the investigation, characterization, and resolution of complex defects
    • Experience with Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) applications (Rational Team Concert, Rational Quality Manager and DOORS Next Generation) in a Systems oriented project
    • Working knowledge of MS Office suite tools including Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint;
    • Adaptable to change


    • Knowledge of Army structure, operational concepts and systems
    • Experience with Army Signals operational concepts
    • Experience in a mentorship or leadership role
    • Experience working with simulation and automation tools such as Robot Framework, IXIA, or CORE
    • Experience working with Linux CLI, including bash scripting
    • Familiarity with a programming language such as C#, C++, or Java
    • Familiarity with radios, voice/data networks, and Internet Protocol (IP)
    • Familiarity with Army Command and Control (C2) systems and bearers (e.g. LOS Microwave Radio, Combat Net Radio, Satellite Communications)
    • Familiarity with Ethernet communications, networking, VLANs, etc
    • Thorough understanding of the product development life cycle and associated processes 


    • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent related technical degree/diploma supplemented with applicable experience


    Minimum 10 year consecutive residence in Canada – for Canadian Secret Security Clearance
