    Project/Program Overview

    The General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada User Experience team delivers a safe and user-friendly experience across all hardware and software deliverables, from the simplest devices to the most complex systems. We take an interdisciplinary and iterative approach to development, focused on understanding and meeting human needs. We actively do this through collaboration, frequent prototyping and user engagement.

    Responsibilities

    Typical Duties

    • Participate in an interdisciplinary integrated project team environment
    • Work closely with software, firmware, within the UX, Human factors + Design group to develop specialized Graphical User Interface (GUI) firmware on military embedded hardware devices or software designs using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) development process
    • This is a cross-discipline role of bridging a GUI design role with firmware and software development to ensure a positive end user experience
    • Identify and create software user interface requirements and analysis of implementation
    • Prepare and review design documents
    • Code and peer review software
    • Document the analysis, design and test activities in accordance with development standards

    Qualifications

    Required Skills & Experience

    • Experience with cross-platform GUI frameworks such as Qt, and HTML 5Experience with firmware application development using the C++ programming language
    • Experience using GUI prototyping tools such as Axure
    • Strong interest and experience with Graphical User Interface design, UX and/or Human Computer Interaction
    • Relevant experience with software development processes and tools
    • Able to translate, and coordinate a GUI experience to the development team, including the creation of assets to facilitate development
    • Experience with embedded processors, particularly the ARM platform, is an asset
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Strong problem solving and analysis skills
    • Enthusiastic contributor, willing to learn new skills and takes on ownership of work
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, with minimum supervision

     Education

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Design, Kinesiology, Computer Science, Systems Design, Ergonomics, Psychology or related discipline with course work in human factors engineering/ergonomics/human computer interaction

     

    Minimum 10 year consecutive residence in Canada – for Canadian Secret Security Clearance
    Applicants will be required to obtain/hold a valid and current Canadian security clearance to gain access to the classified spaces, information and equipment in order to perform the work associated with this position.
