Project/Program Overview

The Land Command Support System (LCSS) Engineering and Integration Support Contract (LEISC) provides technical support for the Canadian Army’s Land Command Support System. LCSS is composed of integrated sensors, tactical video, voice, and data systems. Under LEISC, the baseline LCSS is maintained and new systems and capabilities are developed and integrated as support tasks.


General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada currently has a requirement on the LEISC System of Systems Test & Integration team for a Junior System Integration & Test Engineer. The SoS Test & Integration team has the mandate to execute integration and system testing on the combined LCSS/LEISC system of systems before it is offered for fielding to the Canadian Army. The successful candidate will be responsible for test planning, definition, execution, and reporting as well as developing and maintaining automated tools and supporting lab setup and configuration activities.


Typical Duties


The duties of the System Integration & Test Engineer will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop Test Plans and Procedures, including configuration descriptions and expected outcomes, in accordance with design documents
  • Review of design documents and use cases
  • Execute formal and informal test procedures, gather appropriate measures and data, analyze and interpret test data, and prepare test reports
  • Perform investigations to clarify defects for further analysis and raise defect reports
  • Develop and maintain automated test tools written primarily in Python and Bash script
  • Build, configure, and validate test environments
  • Support external test events and field trials 


Required Skills & Experience 

  • Minimum 1 year experience (co-op or internship considered) with a focus on integration and verification of complex electronic systems at a system level (design, development, and verification).
  • Excellent communication abilities (written and verbal).
  • Experience in defining, developing, and executing system tests for complex functionality, and understanding the interdependencies and interactions between subsystems.
  • Experience in the investigation, characterization, and resolution of complex defects.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite tools including Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with defect tracking systems.
  • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Adaptable to change



  • Related technical degree/diploma supplemented with applicable experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent


  • Knowledge of Army structure, operational concepts, and systems
  • Experience working with automation tools such as Robot Framework, IXIA, Wireshark, or CORE
  • Familiarity with radios, modulation schemes , voice/data networks
  • Familiarity with Ethernet communications , networking, VLANs, Internet Protocol (IP)
  • Thorough understanding of the product development life cycle and associated processes



Minimum 10 year consecutive residence in Canada – for Canadian Secret Security Clearance
